Who can attend MD PETS?
All are welcome to attend Empire Multi-District PETS. The program is designed specifically for President Elects and Assistant Governors in Rotary Districts 7120, 7150, 7170 and 7190, but the content is great for any member who wants to learn more about Rotary. We also welcome leaders from neighboring areas who are unable to attend their local PETS.
How much does it cost to attend?
The clubs in the four host districts (7120, 7150, 7170 & 7190) all pay for their President Elect (PE) to attend, so there is no charge to PE's upon registration. Assistant Governors are also covered to attend.
It is $300 per person for anyone outside of those two roles, and all are welcome to join. That can include your club's President Nominee (2025-26), members of your board, members of your club, spouses, and members from neighboring districts.
The registration is strictly for attending the event and includes all of your meals from Friday dinner through Sunday breakfast. Hotel reservations must be made separately here and are an additional cost at $140/night, plus applicable taxes and fees.
What if our club doesn't have a PE yet or they cannot attend?
If you have not yet identified your club's President Elect (PE) or they are just not available the weekend of our training (March 15-17, 2024), anyone else from your club can go in their place. Your club has already paid for this training, so we encourage every club to send someone to PETS. The speakers, networking and Rotary education that is offered is valuable for anyone in your club, from the current president, to a board member, or even a brand new member who wants to learn more about Rotary. Immersing yourself in Rotary for a weekend is extremely rewarding and fun, so do not let the opportunity pass you by!
If someone other than your PE is attending in their place, have that person register choosing the PE package and put a note in the additional comments space that they are attending in their place.
Is the hotel included in my registration?
No, your hotel reservations must be made separately. If you wish to stay at the hotel (and we hope you will if you are not local to Syracuse), we have arranged for an excellent nightly rate and you will need to book that here.
The room block is in effect through February 13, 2024 or until rooms sell out, so do not wait to make that reservation!
If you have any special accommodations that you need in regards to your hotel stay, you will need to arrange that with the hotel directly at 315-432-0200.
I have been to this when I was a Club President once before (or more!). Why should I attend again?
This is a great question and something we hear often, as we know it's more and more common for someone to serve as an "encore President." The great thing about PETS training is that it is different every year. Each year we conduct a survey and use the responses to improve the next year's event. We also invite in different speakers, incorporate different topics, and of course there are always new things to learn about Rotary as we continue to evolve and work to stay relevant in our communities. Even if you've been before and you think you know all you need to know, the networking alone is worth the trip!
If you really are not interested in attending again, consider sending someone else from your club in your place. Your club has already paid for this training, so take advantage of it. We're sure there is someone in your club who would enjoy hearing speakers from Rotary headquarters, sharing meals with 150 other club leaders, and connecting with district leaders that can be a resource to you in the future.
Do President Elects need to register?
Yes please! Your club may have already paid for you to attend, but we still need to know exactly who is coming and we want to be sure to have a name badge ready for you at check-in. We ask that all attendees, including President Elects, register by March 4th at the very latest.
